Artist’s Bio:
Constantine.. is an Athens-born, Edinburgh-based artist, painter, author and interventionist whose practice moves between painting, writing, performance, film and interventions in public space.
Self-taught as an artist and originally trained in geology, he has developed an independent multidisciplinary practice over more than a decade. His work frequently draws on mythology, popular culture, autobiography and invented personas, using humour, satire and ambiguity to examine identity, power, heroism and artistic freedom.
Painting remains central to his practice. Across bodies of work including FLUXUS, VIGILANTE, Myth and/or Mythology.. and A Collection of Quotidian Masterpieces, recurring figures, cultural references and autobiographical elements move between the theatrical and the everyday. His work has been described by curator Quentin Métayer as possessing a “strong aesthetic” that reflects art history while remaining contemporary.
Alongside his studio practice, Constantine.. creates temporary interventions in public space under the recurring declaration “Please Respect This Rogue Intervention.” These have included paintings, objects, banners, sculptural works and projections placed throughout Edinburgh and elsewhere. Rather than functioning separately from his studio work, the interventions extend his interest in authorship, permission, visibility and the relationship between artwork, artist and audience.
His practice also encompasses writing, publishing, performance and artist-led activity. He is the founder of House of Zeus, through which he has produced exhibitions, publications, residencies and multidisciplinary events.
In 2025, Constantine.. was Artist in Residence at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh, where he developed VIGILANTE Returns, subsequently presented as an exhibition, performance and film. His work and projects have been covered by publications including Artmag, The Edinburgh Reporter and The Herald, among others.
He lives and works in Edinburgh.

Artist Statement
My practice explores identity as something constructed, performed and repeatedly contradicted. Working primarily through painting, alongside writing, performance, film and public intervention, I use autobiography, mythology, popular culture and invented personas to examine the distance between how we present ourselves and how we behave.
Figures recur across the work as unstable characters: artist, hero, villain, god, clown, vigilante and versions of myself. I am interested in what happens when these identities begin to fail. Heroism becomes ridiculous, mythology becomes ordinary, morality becomes hypocrisy, and the self becomes both subject and character. Humour, satire and absurdity allow me to destabilise familiar images while leaving their meaning deliberately unresolved.
Painting is the foundation of this practice, but its concerns increasingly extend beyond the studio. Through my ongoing rogue interventions, artworks are placed temporarily into public space without conventional permission or invitation. In doing so, questions of authorship, authority, ownership and artistic freedom move from subjects within the work to conditions under which the work itself exists.
Across these different forms, I am interested in the tension between appearance and reality, freedom and authority, sincerity and performance. Rather than resolving those contradictions, I use them as material.
