FLUXUS

‘FLUXUS’ is a collaboration between Edinburgh-based artists Lynn Ahrens and Constantine.. The Artist.' FLUXUS’ calls upon the viewer to enter a space where reality is transformed into strange and obscure shapes. The figure is the prominent theme across the artists’ works, often distorted, warped, smudged and coloured into uncomfortable and contorted shapes and forms. The figure is used in a colourful manner in Constantine..’s work, juxtaposed with the darker, eerie nature of Ahrens’.This contrast invites the viewer to consider both sides of the self: our vibrant and ostentatious against our hidden, ugly and unstable aspects. It is important to embrace both the light and dark within ourselves. This exhibition encourages us to uncover and appreciate the fluidity and flow between the light and dark; that the lines can often be blurred

Fluxus Series Statement

Fluxus explores the fluidity and movement of the human figure, capturing the tension between form, motion, and psychological expression. In this series, figures stretch, twist, and dissolve across the canvas, creating a visual rhythm that hovers between figuration and abstraction. The work interrogates how the body conveys emotion and narrative without words, allowing movement itself to become a language.

Rendered in bold, saturated palettes and dynamic mark-making, Fluxus emphasizes flow, transformation, and visual energy, inviting viewers to inhabit the space between control and spontaneity. Each composition acts as both an individual study and a piece of a larger dialogue about the human condition — its instability, strength, and constant motion.

As a counterpoint to the narrative-driven Vigilante series, Fluxus demonstrates a focus on painterly exploration, form, and gesture, highlighting the breadth of the artist’s practice and mastery over both concept and medium.
