A Collection of Quotidian Masterpieces
A Collection of Quotidian Masterpieces explores the collision between familiar cultural imagery and the absurdity of everyday life. Drawing from popular culture, art history, personal observation and visual memory, Constantine.. repositions recognisable references within scenes that are humorous, theatrical and deliberately unsettled.
The paintings move freely between homage and irreverence, treating cultural icons not as fixed symbols but as material to be borrowed, disrupted and reimagined. Humour provides an immediate point of entry, while beneath it sit recurring concerns with identity, behaviour, desire, contradiction and the strange performances of ordinary life.
Rather than reproducing the language of Pop Art, the series uses its accessibility and visual immediacy as part of a broader painterly practice—one in which high and low culture, sincerity and parody, the iconic and the mundane are allowed to coexist.
A Collection of Quotidian Masterpieces is an ongoing body of work.
